The Native American Style Flute in the key of C Hijaz is a single-bore poplar instrument voiced to one of the more striking modal scales available in the Native American flute format. C is a low, resonant key, and the Hijaz mode layered over that register produces a sound that is both grounded and harmonically distinctive. Poplar keeps the build lightweight and the focus on the modal voicing. Tuned to C Hijaz at 440 Hz, this flute carries the augmented second interval that defines the Hijaz mode — a sharp, tension-laden step between the second and third scale degrees that gives the scale its immediately recognizable character.
